TL DR, it’s a fun game and a good port that for me has been enjoyable with a bit of planning. You can also save while in fights, not just at the strategic layer, so if you do that every couple of turns you won’t be replaying many turns. Reboot the tablet and then play the game, and don’t jump to other apps, and it should be fine. If you want to minimize crashing while playing this game, just don’t multitask. Honestly, iOS seems to just have terrible memory management or something - I have to reboot my tablet a few times a week anyway just during normal use because Firefox, etc.
In terms of crashing, it does happen but not enough to enrage me or make me want to stop playing, I just save often. The only minor annoyance is that what would normally be a “mouse hover” to read a tooltip requires you to hold your finger down and slide it around so you don’t accidentally click.
